Stainless Steel Series 420J2

It has good machinability in the annealed state and is mainly used in the manufacturing of fluoroplastic molds in environments with corrosive gases or flame retardants added.

SUS420J2 is a martensitic stainless steel under the Japanese JIS G 4303:2005 standard. After quenching and tempering treatment, it exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, high polishing performance, and relatively high hardness (50-55HRC), making it suitable for tools and molds in high-load, wear-resistant, and corrosive environments. Its chemical composition includes carbon (0.26%-0.40%), chromium (12.00%-14.00%), and other elements. Its physical properties include a yield strength of ≥540N/mm² and a tensile strength of ≥740N/mm². It has good machinability in the annealed state and is mainly used in the manufacturing of fluoroplastic molds in environments with corrosive gases or flame retardants added.

Standard: JIS G 4303:2005

It is a martensitic type stainless steel with good mechanical processing performance. 3Cr13 material with hardness below HRC30 after quenching and tempering treatment has better machinability and can achieve better surface quality. However, when the hardness is greater than HRC30, although the surface quality of the machined parts is good, the cutting tools are prone to wear. Therefore, after the material is delivered to the factory, it is first quenched and tempered to a hardness of HRC25-30, and then machined.

It has a higher hardness than SUS420J2 after quenching and is used for cutting tools, nozzles, valve seats, valves, etc.
